As Central Pennsylvania is blanketed under several feet of snow, it’s hard to believe that the racing season is just a few short weeks away! The recent offseason has been nothing short of busy and one of major change for area driver Jordan Givler. After years of driving both a 358 and 410 sprint car for Coldren Motorsports, Jordan has started his own race team; Exceleration Motorsports. The new team will be competing regularly in the 358 class in 2016.
The move to form Exceleration Motorsports comes after 4 years and 79 races behind the wheel of a Coldren-owned entry. “First and foremost, I can’t thank Mark and everyone involved with Coldren Motorsports enough for allowing me the opportunity to begin my driving career. I started out with zero experience behind the wheel of any kind of racecar. 4 years, a Williams Grove win, and numerous top 5 and top 10 finishes later, it’s time to take the next step,” said Jordan.
For several years Jordan also held the role of crew chief for the 410 portion of Coldren Motorsports, most recently filling that position for several of Doug Esh’s races in 2015. Jordan’s goals and ambitions behind the wheel require complete focus on his driving, ultimately leading to the decision to form the new race team. Over the winter months Jordan has been acquiring much of Coldren Motorsports' 358 equipment and is poised to make 2016 a break-out season.
“This is the best ‘split’ that you could possibly dream of. Mark is super supportive and understands my goals as a driver. To compete at the level that I desire, it requires complete focus on my driving. This move allows me to do just that and will also position Mark’s team on solid ground as they make changes for 2016. We’re still going to have a very close technical relationship with the Coldren team and I look forward to seeing what this coming season brings for them.”
Jordan will continue to carry the familiar number 90, which he has used in all of his 358 starts to date. The car will still look very familiar to fans, with many of his longtime supporters joining the new team. Water Treatment By Design will be serving as primary sponsor for Exceleration Motorsports. Longtime sponsors Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists of the Lehigh Valley and Bucks County, Rick’s Auto Body, and Tim Peiffer State Farm Insurance Agent are all joining the team as well. Anita and “Roto Grip” Rick Mitchell are new sponsors of the 90 for 2016. The team will be utilizing HP Engines under the hood of their Triple X Chassis.
Joining the team as crew chief for the 2016 season is Brandon Baker. After numerous seasons with the Dietz Motorsports team, most notably with driver Lance Dewease, Brandon brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Exceleration Motorsports. Albeit brief, Jordan and Brandon do have a history together as driver and crew chief. In 2013 the duo worked together in the final 4 races of the season at Williams Grove. Three of the finishes: 6, 1, and 9. Gil Givler and Arynne Moody will also continue their roles on Jordan’s team for 2016.
An ambitious schedule of 24 races has been established between Williams Grove, Lincoln, and Susquehanna Speedways. The 90 is currently scheduled to be at all Williams Grove and Susquehanna races, as well as at all 358 Summer Series events. We are actively seeking additional marketing partners to allow us to expand our schedule further. This schedule is subject to change as the season progresses.
